Hall County investigators were working Sunday to identify a woman whose body was found floating earlier in the day in Lake Lanier

Fishermen originally found the body and reported it to authorities about 11:30 a.m., Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Nicole Bailes said.

The body was later pulled from the lake near the Dawsonville Highway/Ga. 53 bridge on the Chattahoochee River, she said.

A Hall County Fire Services marine rescue boat helped in the effort.

The cause of the woman’s death isn’t known, said Bailes, adding that the badly decomposed body would be sent to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
