A woman has been flown to an Atlanta hospital and is in stable condition after being run over in the driveway of her Christopher Court home, according to reports.

Gladis Salazar-Maguna, 43, was flown to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta shortly before 2 p.m., nearly 45 minutes after she was run over in her driveway, Gainesville Police Lt. Brian Kelly said.

Salazar-Maguna had been standing behind her Ford Windstar minivan when a 2-year-old child, who was in the vehicle and who police believe is Salazar-Maguna’s son, knocked the vehicle out of gear and it backed out of the woman’s carport and over her, Kelly stated in a news release.

Salazar-Maguna was conscious and alert when emergency personnel arrived at her home. A hospital employee who answered the phone in Grady Memorial Hospital’s trauma center said Salazar-Maguna’s condition was stable, but the woman was still being evaluated Tuesday.

Authorities closed Thompson Bridge Road at the Enota Drive intersection for about 20 minutes Tuesday afternoon in order to land the helicopter.

The incident is still under investigation by the Gainesville Police Department, and authorities do not yet know why the child was in the van or if it was running when the child knocked it out of gear.
