A woman who was run over on Brown Street while she laid on the road Monday night was in stable condition at Northeast Georgia Medical Center’s intensive care unit Tuesday.

The Georgia State Patrol said the accident happened around 9:35 p.m. Monday on Brown Street off Old Athens Highway.

Betty Weston, 43, of Gainesville was lying in the eastbound lane of Brown Street when the driver of a Honda Civic accidentally ran over her midsection, the Georgia State Patrol said. The driver was not found to be at fault.

The patrol said it is investigating whether alcohol was a factor. Toxicology tests on Weston are pending.
