Atlanta woman dies after falling in Lake Lanier

An Atlanta woman died at Northeast Georgia Medical Center on Friday, Oct. 5, after falling in Lake Lanier.

Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth said a man renting a slip at Aqualand Marina was talking to an Uber driver when Agne Krutules, 40, fell off of a boat.

The man “discovered the victim in the lake and was holding her head above water when deputies arrived” around 1:45 a.m. Friday, Booth said.

Hall County Fire Services took over CPR from the responding deputies at the Lights Ferry Road marina and transported Krutules to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in critical condition.

Investigators were notified Friday afternoon of her death.

Booth said no foul play is suspected, but the case is still being investigated.

“(Detectives’) initial investigation indicated alcohol may have been a contributing factor to the victim’s fall into the water,” Booth wrote in a news release.

Booth said Krutules was in the lake for roughly six minutes.
