A Loganville woman is charged with DUI and vehicular homicide in the death of a Flowery Branch woman early Saturday morning in a wreck on Ga. 316, according to the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office.
Cathy Moore, 41, of Flowery Branch, and one of the passengers in her car, Bradley Atha, 36, of Dacula were killed, and a third passenger was transported to the hospital for treatment.
Meghan Caldwell, 24, of Loganville was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, serious injury by motor vehicle, two counts of first-degree homicide by vehicle and a red light violation.
Caldwell’s 2012 Kia Sorrento ran a red light on the highway and hit the driver’s side of a 2004 Mustang crossing the road at the Patrick Mill intersection, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.
At 4:06 a.m. Barrow deputies were dispatched to the crash site, and deputies from the Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit responded and are investigating the case.
Caldwell was the lone occupant of the Kia. She was transported to the hospital before her arrest.
The investigation is ongoing, and more information will be released when it becomes available.
