A Flowery Branch woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing more than $23,000 from the Royal Lakes Golf and Country Club homeowners association.

Barbara Bates, 62, is accused of embezzling $23,350 from the Royal Lakes property owners association fund, according to Hall County sheriff’s Maj. Jeff Strickland.

Bates is listed as a member of the association’s board of directors on the association’s Web site. She allegedly stole the money between March 11 and July 8, Strickland said.

Bates was arrested on Aug. 11 and released on a $15,000 bond, according to Strickland. Bates had no prior arrests in Hall County.
