Gov. Sonny Perdue has reappointed Gainesville civic leader James A. “Jim” Walters to the Georgia Board of Natural Resources.
Walters, 71, is the president and CEO of Walters Management Co., an operator of consumer loan companies. Walters served as chairman of the natural resources board in 2007-08.
He is a past president and current chairman of the legislative and political action committee of the Georgia Industry Loan Association. At Brenau University, Walters is secretary to the board of trustees and serves on the finance and executive committees of the board.
Walters attended North Carolina State University and Charlotte College and was granted an honorary doctorate degree in law from the Brenau University Board of Trustees.
He and his wife, Peggy, have two children and five grandchildren.
