Volunteers to bear the load at corps campground
Move could expand, save parks from cutting hours or closing

It’s taken a volunteer effort to restore operating days at Bolding Mill campground in northwest Hall County. Because of budget constraints, the Army Corps of Engineers had reduced the number of days per week Bolding Mill and three other campgrounds — Van Pugh South, Duckett Mill and Sawnee — had been open to four. However, by handing over services to volunteers that contractors had handled, Bolding Mill will return to daily operations starting with the 2014 season, which begins Thursday and ends Sept. 7.
