Two women from Gainesville and an Alto man were identified Thursday as the three people killed in a Wednesday crash in Habersham County, the Habersham County coroner said.

Karen Faith Silver, 53, and Bernice Simmons Pierce, 88, both of Gainesville, and Felton "Chief" Simmons, 90, of Alto, died in the accident that happened shortly after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Coroner Kasey McEntire said.

McEntire said Silver was driving a station wagon on Ga. 365 with Pierce and Simmons as passengers when she turned in front of a van at the Mount Zion Road intersection near Alto.

Silver was a neighbor of Pierce's, and Simmons and Pierce are brother and sister, McEntire said.
