An elderly Cornelia man left his car stuck on the railroad tracks Saturday before a train arrived, according to authorities.

Curtis Sylvester Martin, 83, was driving a 1998 Plymouth Voyager eastbound just before 8 p.m. Saturday on Hoyt Street in Cornelia when approaching the railroad tracks, according to Georgia State Patrol.

“(Sylvester) ran off the south shoulder and became stuck on the railroad tracks,” according to GSP Post 7 Secretary Deanna Wilson.

Traveling northbound, the train struck the unoccupied Plymouth Voyager on its right side.

No one was injured and no charges have been filed, according to GSP.
