The Georgia Department of Transportation will continue work today on bridge construction at Ga. 52/323 over Candler Creek in Gillsville.

Traffic has been shifted and motorists should use extra caution traveling through the work zone.

“If you slow down through the work zone and follow the direction of the signs and barrels, you can easily follow the traffic pattern change in Gillsville,” DOT District Construction Engineer Harold Mull said in a news release. “Thank you for your patience as we replace the bridge over Candler Creek.”

An area of about 1,500 feet of Ga. 52/323 near the existing bridge will be moved.

Sunbelt Structures Inc. of Marietta is handling the $2.2 million contract with a completion date of Sept. 30.
