On March 16, Jefferson fire officials responded to a fire at 52 Hamilton Drive in the Morgan Creek Subdivision.

Investigators with the Office of Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John Oxendine were called in to investigate the fire that was originally ruled suspicious after racist graffiti was found at the scene.

Further investigation into the matter led officials to label the fire as arson.
