Three family members towing a trailer allegedly containing stolen metal material ran out of gas about 100 yards from where police say they stole the material.

A resident discovered the abandoned Chevrolet pickup truck towing a trailer containing a 20-inch section of metal culvert pipe and other metal material, Sgt. Stephen Wilbanks said.

Hall County sheriff's deputies charged two brothers, Anthony Ray Tweedell, 18, and David Justin Tweedell, 22, as well as their uncle, Robert Allen Chamblee, 45, all of Gainesville, with felony theft by taking.

The men are accused of stealing approximately $750 worth of material from a residence in the 8000 block of Breezy Lane in Clermont.

The three suspects returned to the truck a short time later, claimed ownership and were arrested.

Each was booked into the Hall County Jail and the stolen property was returned to its owner. The incident remains under investigation.
