The Venue at Friendship Springs construction progressing in South Hall
April opening is still being targeted
The Venue at Friendship Springs is taking shape with plans for completion in April.

Steel is up at The Venue at Friendship Springs after the project got behind in October when a record 20 inches of rain fell in a 30-day period and another 16 inches came in by year’s end, according to the developer.

“The rain just hammered us, so we are about a month behind,” said General Manager Jon Wayne, who added that he is pleased the building’s shell is up and the parking lot base and binder are in, which allowed crews to work while other contractors in the area were at a standstill because of wet soil conditions. “The guys have been out working most every day and are doing a fantastic job.”

The project will bring a 40,000-square-foot multi-purpose event center to South Hall with a 550-seat auditorium and performance theater, banquet rooms and conference space.

The facility will be at 7340 Friendship Springs Boulevard behind the Publix Shopping Center on Spout Springs Road at Friendship Road.

“The good news is that we pressed to get the parking lot in by mid-December,” said Wayne, who notes the project is building excitement in the Braselton area and the clean worksite has gotten compliments from Braselton town officials.

“There is a ton of excitement and we are getting lots of interest in employment opportunities and from catering companies, many out of Atlanta, interested in forming relationships with us, so it’s been great,” Wayne said.

He said he already has multiple verbal bookings, including a wedding and reception for August, a dance company event in October, a sweet 16 party in November and three dance studio recitals, including Heather Wayne Performing Arts Center, owned and operated by his wife.

“We are going to get back on track but not sacrifice quality and still target April for completion now,” Wayne said.

“The HVAC and electrical guys and sheetrock folks are sitting on go.”
