The Hall County Tax Commissioner’s Office will be closed today and Wednesday as it relocates to the Hall County Government Center, 2875 Browns Bridge Road, Gainesville.

Tax Commissioner Keith Echols said those whose birthdays fall on those days will not be penalized if they pay their vehicle tax Thursday at the new location.

For more information, contact the office at 770-531-6950 or 770-532-1179.

County departments began moving in shifts to that facility starting in September, except for the Elections Office, which made its move before the July 31 election.

The administration and finance departments’ relocation on Oct. 22 will round out the moves.

The first Board of Commissioners meeting to be held at the new facility will be the Nov. 5 work session.

“The intent of the move, overall, is to provide better service for our citizens,” County Administrator Randy Knighton has said. “This provides the opportunity for various departments to move to a centralized location.”

Flowery Branch cancels City Council meeting

Flowery Branch has canceled its Thursday City Council meeting due to a lack of business, according to a notice from the city.

The next meeting will be 6 p.m. Nov. 1, and will start with the dedication of the Garden Clock that was donated by Stephen and Claire Hamlin on Aug. 16.

The clock will be located at the corner of Railroad and Main streets, next to the City Depot.
