A student from Tadmore Elementary School has advanced to the State Social Studies Fair April 14 at Clayton State University.

Alexander Vargas was a first-place winner at this year’s Georgia Council for the Social Studies Regional Social Studies Fair held recently at the University of North Georgia’s Gainesville campus, which featured more than 200 participants from 44 county and city school systems in Northeast Georgia. The competition was open to grades 5-12.

Six projects were presented from Tadmore, and all six were among the regional winners. Eleven fifth-graders researched and presented the winning projects. The students took home one first-place ribbon and 10 third-place ribbons.

In addition to picking up a first-place award, Vargas was also named one of the Best in Region.
