Four people, including a child, were injured this morning when an SUV crossed the centerline of Ga. 11 and struck an ambulance, causing both vehicles to overturn multiple times, according to the Georgia State Patrol.

Sherri Bruce, 37, of Cleveland was driving a Ford Expedition north on Ga. 11 near Deer River Trail as Zachery Vaughn, 26, was driving south in the ambulance.

Bruce veered off the east shoulder then overcorrected, crossing into the northbound lane, according to the State Patrol. She is being charged with failure to maintain lane, and the extent of her injuries is unknown.

The SUV hit the ambulance’s driver side and overturned multiple times before coming to a rest on the east shoulder of the road. The impact caused the ambulance to also overturn multiple times before landing upside down on the west shoulder.

A child in Bruce’s vehicle, Vaughn and Stephen Peachey, 28, a passenger in the ambulance, all suffered only minor injuries, according to the State Patrol.
