Police are looking for multiple suspects allegedly using a “quick change” robbery technique at two restaurants involving money in the register.
The first instance took place at the Firehouse Subs around 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 14, where the man defrauded the cashier of $50, according to Oakwood Police.
“The suspect appears to be choosing the cashier for additional change who is easily confused during their interaction, and the suspect is sometimes intimidating while giving instructions to the cashier as he demands to get his change back,” Sgt. Danny Sridej said in a news release.
The suspect is a black man between 5 feet, 9 inches and 6 feet tall, and weighing between 185 and 200 pounds. He is believed to be in his late 40s or 50s and mostly bald with a small amount of light gray hair.
The suspect was seen on surveillance video wearing a black vest over a plaid shirt and black pants, police said.
Sridej said the suspects ask for change while the register is open and confuse the employee.
“The suspect will actually reach over the counter to help the cashier count the money,” Sridej said.
A similar incident occurred at a Subway around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, where a suspect allegedly defrauded the cashier of $150, police said.
“The second black male suspect was wearing a dark color jacket over a light brown shirt with a similar description, except for more gray hair,” Sridej said.
