A Hall County gang member who tried to sell a shotgun to another gang member in July has been arrested in Texas, authorities said.

Aldo Arnaldo Guzman, 20, was arrested by the FBI in Hitchcock, Texas, this week, Gainesville-Hall County Gang Task Force Lt. Scott Ware said.

Ware said Guzman had been the subject of an undercover investigation in which the sale of the firearm was to take place July 2 in the Skelton Road area.

Guzman is a member of MS-13, a Hispanic street gang with a small presence in Hall County, Ware said.

When authorities closed in to arrest Guzman, he ran and eluded capture, Ware said. He was a fugitive until his arrest Thursday.

The incident occurred more than a month prior to a fatal gang-related shooting and had no connection; two different gangs were involved in the shooting.

Ware said investigations by the FBI, Gang Task Force and Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office led them to locate Guzman in an apartment in Texas.

Ware said Guzman has been indicted federally for being an illegal alien in the possession of a firearm.

Guzman was deported to Mexico before re-entering the country illegally, Ware said.

Guzman will be extradited to Georgia from Texas to face charges of violation of Georgia’s street gang terrorism act, reckless conduct, obstruction of an officer and illegal possession of a firearm.
