Authorities are searching for a Braselton man, considered armed and dangerous, who escaped capture after a three-county police chase Sunday, July 22.

Shannon Michael Carter, 25, “has multiple felony warrants" out of Jackson County and other counties, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.

The chase began in Jackson on Cooper Bridge Road, which is between Talmo and Chestnut Mountain.

A sheriff’s deputy had pulled over another driver at about 5 p.m., when a car driven by Joshua Martin, 33, of Buford, pulled out of the driveway of a house and hit the front of the patrol car, Sheriff Janis Mangum said Monday. Carter was a passenger in that car.

The deputy was out of the car with the other driver at the time and wasn’t injured, Mangum said.

Jackson deputies then pursued the driver, who traveled through Hall County before ending up around Railroad Avenue in Buford in Gwinnett.

Martin was arrested and is in the Jackson County Jail charged with aggravated assault on police officers and “multiple traffic charges,” Mangum said.

Carter was able to run away from authorities, the sheriff said.
