Suspect in September fatal shooting arrested
Darvis Bledson

Authorities have arrested the suspect in the September shooting death of a Gainesville man.

Gainesville Police said U.S. Marshals assisted in the arrest of Darvis Donquan Bledson, 33, also known as “Tookie.”

Bledson faces a felony murder charge and was booked in at the Hall County Jail at 11:31 a.m. Thursday, according to the Hall County inmate population list.

The investigation began soon after authorities received several 911 calls and as a Gainesville officer was flagged down just before 11 p.m. Sept. 9 at the 900 block of Athens Street. Gainesville Police Sgt. Kevin Holbrook previously said the shooting took place outside a building that once housed a club called Sparkles and that the building is now used for private events.

Officers found Terry Jerome Maddox, 30, who had been shot multiple times. Unresponsive, Maddox was pronounced dead at the scene.

A large group of people was at the scene when officers arrived, Holbrook previously said.

“Within hours of the shooting, investigators named Bledson as a suspect,” he said.
