The Gainesville Fire Department is investigating a Sunday morning fire at Park Creek Apartments on Park Creek Court.

One apartment in the 5:15 a.m. blaze received some fire damage in a bedroom, as well as smoke and water damage, Fire Chief Jon Canada said.

Also, the apartment below it was damaged by water.

“The fire was keep in check by the building’s sprinkler system,” Canada said, adding that firefighters were able to put out the blaze quickly.

Despite minor damage and no injuries, the apartment building was evacuated until it was safe for residents to return to their homes.

No damage estimated has been calculated.

Four adults displaced from the two apartments received help Sunday from the American Red Cross and the apartment manager, Canada said.
