For its fifth year, Generation Inspiration was out Saturday for its “Un-tag Gainesville” event at a handful of locations “until they run out of paint or run out of graffiti,” founder Ashley Bell said.

The idea started as a way for high school kids to start “counteracting some of the gang presence” in the community by beautifying areas around town, Bell said.

Bell said it has created an invaluable partnership with the city, because the city cannot remove graffiti from private property.

Generation Inspiration is a summer youth leadership society that helps Gainesville students give back to the community. In this initiative, various groups cleaned up areas around downtown Gainesville that were tagged with various graffiti.
