Norcross High student Kevin Arita, along with Dick Stafford, speak about Yonah Coffee, which they established in 2011 to grow coffee in Habersham County during the Institute for Environmental Spatial Analysis speaker series Wednesday afternoon at the University of North Georgia Gainesville campus. The event, which is developed and run by students, is held to address social and environmental issues and draw attention to local and global individuals and organizations that are addressing these issues.
Area college students are working to encourage a culture of social sustainability by highlighting the connections between the environment, individuals and area businesses. The Institute of Environmental and Spatial Analysis at the University of North Georgia in Gainesville is holding a sustainability series during April to inform students and the public about local and global sustainability. The series will feature different speakers each week from local businesses that focus on being environmentally sound.
