A 14-year-old student was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center on Monday afternoon after being hit by a car, authorities said. The incident happened at about 4:46 p.m. in front of Mount Vernon Elementary School, according to the Georgia State Patrol. The student was part of a wrestling team that was running on Jim Hood Road, said GSP Trooper Devon Fields.
