A South Hall strip shopping center got the Flowery Branch City Council’s first OK for annexation into the city Thursday.

A South Hall strip shopping center got the Flowery Branch City Council’s first OK for annexation into the city Thursday.

The council also gave its first approval to rezone the Pure Gas center at 6168 Gaines Ferry Road from Hall County suburban shopping to the Flowery Branch highway business.

Final approval for both actions is set for May 18.

The center is hoping to connect to city sewer, enabling it to revive businesses at the decades-old building across from Hall County Fire Station 8.

“By annexing into Flowery Branch and connecting to the city sewer, the owner intends to lease one of the spaces to a pizza restaurant,” a city document states.

Also, owner Mohammed Arif has said, “There’s somebody looking (to start) a Mexican restaurant (at the location).”
