The Humane Society of Hall County presents its 17th annual Stray Pet Strut and 5K Run on Saturday, with all of the proceeds going to benefit the organization. The event takes place at Lake Lanier Islands, which is a new location from previous years.

Today is the deadline to preregister for $20, and on Saturday the cost is $25. Prizes will be awarded in four categories for participants with the most pledges.

The race is a Run and See Georgia certified race, and runners will receive awards in 15 categories.

All participants will receive a T-shirt, but only those who preregister are guaranteed a shirt. Pets can join in, too, and those who participate in the Pet Strut walk must be updated on their vaccinations, on a leash and in good physical condition.

Volunteers are still needed. To help or get more information about the event, call 770-532-6617 or e-mail gwentrimmer@humanesocietyhallcounty.com.
