Stolen truck, mailbox damage may be linked, official says

A case of a stolen transport truck and damaged mailboxes Saturday in Hall County could be connected, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Nicole Bailes, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman, said investigators are looking into whether a tractor trailer truck apparently stolen from Crane Transporting of Fullenwider Road and later returned was involved in reports of mailbox damage around Ransom Free Road and Lee Lane.

The Sheriff’s Office received the call after 11 a.m. of damages to the mailboxes. A witness in the area described a truck leaving the scene.

Employees at Crane Transporting said a person who was not employed there got out of one of their tractor trailers. The truck matched the description given by the witness and had damage consistent with that suffered by the mailboxes, Bailes said.

Patrol deputies took the damage reports and a theft report of the stolen truck.
