Georgia lawmakers have toughened their stance in a longstanding border dispute with Tennessee. Georgia senators voted 48-2 Monday to approach Tennessee with an offer, but they amended the resolution to direct the attorney general to start litigation if no agreement is reached. “The state has put a very generous offer on the table to confirm the incorrect line and the 33,817 people who live there, and I think it would be in Tennessee’s interest to accept the deal,” said Atlanta attorney Brad Carver, who has worked for years on an answer to the dispute.
