Local high school students ages 15-17 with a Georgia instructional driving permit can apply online for a new grant scholarship program announced this week by the Georgia Driver’s Education Commission. Students awarded a grant get a voucher that can be redeemed with a public or private driving school provider, according to Katie Fallon, spokeswoman for the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. Applicants must agree to complete a driver’s education course in which the student receives a minimum of 30 hours of classroom training and six hours of practical training behind the wheel, Fallon said.
