A squirrel’s adventure into Jackson EMC’s Oakwood substation left 1,200 customers without power Tuesday morning.

The outage lasted just over an hour and affected customers in the West Hall area.

“This happens when we get animals, we even have snakes crawl into the substation looking for birds and things and causing outages,” said Bonne Jones, spokeswoman with Jackson EMC.
