Some residents in Gainesville continue to report a strange taste and smell to their tap water, a result of seasonal changes to Lake Lanier, but city officials have again provided assurances that the water passes all quality inspections. The water “continues to be safe to drink and use for normal purposes,” Water Resources Director Linda MacGregor said Thursday in an email to The Times. “Some people report improvement … some say they continue to notice a different taste or smell.”
