Mandy Skinner knows buying a mattress isn’t something most people love doing, but she said the process can be more enjoyable at Sleep Number.
Skinner is the general manager of a Sleep Number store opening Friday at North Lake Square on Dawsonville Highway. And while mattress stores aren’t in short supply locally, Skinner said her company’s ability to listen and meet customer’s specific comfort and temperature sleep needs makes Sleep Number stand out.
“One-size-fits-all does not work for mattresses,” Skinner said.
Sleep Number’s dual-air technology helps determine the best setting for an individual.
Customers can lie on an individual fit mattress that will pull up a digital representation of their pressure points to help determine the correct Sleep Number — on a scale going up to 100, which is the most firm.
The sleep IQ technology in the mattresses helps those who purchase them see how they sleep each night.
The store also offers a customized pillow fit and other bedding options such as sheets, comforters and blankets.
And one of the most important things about a Sleep Number mattress is that it can have a different number on each side.
“Everybody is different,” Skinner said.
And the same person’s number can change from night to night depending on temperature and comfort factors.
The Gainesville location will be the 14th in the Atlanta market and the farthest north among that group. Skinner, a Gainesville native, said she’s glad to bring the Sleep Number experience to her hometown, where retail growth continues at a rapid pace.
Sleep Number will offer grand opening specials during its first eight weeks of being open.
It is the latest store in the fast-growing North Lake Square, which also features Hobby Lobby, Academy Sports + Outdoors, HomeGoods, Five Below and Pollo Tropical. Sleep Number shares a building with Chipotle and Jersey Mike’s.
Burlington is scheduled to open Sept. 23 in the back of the shopping center beside Five Below.
At the front of the shopping center, another multi-tenant building will soon be constructed near the building housing Sleep Number, developer Tim Knight said.
