Repairs to a sinkhole that developed earlier this month in a Gainesville shopping center should be complete today, depending on weather. The hole, which was 20 feet wide and 20 feet deep below a basketball-sized opening, appeared Aug. 4 in the parking lot of Barry’s Better Menswear near the Ga. 53/John Morrow Parkway intersection with Pearl Nix Parkway. Georgia Department of Transportation crews have laid asphalt that needs to cool overnight before paving and striping can be finished, according to a news release.
