Southbound traffic on Interstate 985 slowed to a crawl Thursday morning as a Georgia Department of Transportation maintenance crew performed shoulder work.
Crews began the work between Gainesville and Oakwood after 9 a.m. and “heavy traffic on the interstate began to back up quickly soon after,” DOT spokesman Mohamed Arafa said.
“Our crews worked as quickly as possible to get the job done and move out of the way.”
Other details about the work weren’t available.
