Hall County Sheriff's officials have now arrested a Flowery Branch woman who claimed she was stabbed in the stomach last week but who they say actually stabbed herself.
Investigators this afternoon arrested and charged Beverly Revonda Haynie, 34, with false report of a crime and making false statements.
Haynie told deputies a stranger stabbed her in the stomach when she opened her door on Dec. 15 at her Bald Eagle Place home off Calvary Church Road in southern Hall County.
However, during an interview Tuesday, she told officials the wound was self-inflicted, spokesman Col. Jeff Strickland said.
"After reviewing the reported stabbing incident ... investigators have determined that the assault did not occur as reported and that the wound was self-inflicted," he said Wednesday.
In a phone call to The Times on Tuesday evening, Haynie said she didn't admit to the self-inflicted wound though investigators captured her words on video. Haynie will remain at the Hall County Jail until she posts a $5,000 bond.
Haynie was flown about 9:30 a.m. Dec. 15 to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta after officials came to her home and found her with stab wounds in the abdomen. The incident remains an open investigation under Hall County Sheriff's Criminal Investigations Division.
