The man killed in a Cleveland home explosion Friday has been identified.

Edgar Brummett, 71, of Sautee Nacoochee, was killed in the explosion, according to White County Coroner Ricky Barrett. Barrett said the fire marshal’s office is still investigating the cause of the blast.

A GoFundMe page was set up for the family.

According to his obituary, Brummett worked in administration at a Veterans Affairs hospital and was a Vietnam Army veteran.

The blast left three or four homes nearby with broken windows and other damage, White County Sheriff Neal Walden said, and residents of neighboring counties several miles away reported feeling the shockwave.

A memorial service is set for 2 p.m. today at Sylvan Valley Lodge. Barrett Funeral Home in Cleveland is handling the arrangements.
