Riverbend Elementary School will release students at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday for the Tour de Georgia, a 600-mile bicycle race starting Monday and traveling through Gainesville that day.

"We’ve been looking at the route and the only school (the race) will affect is Riverbend," said Will Schofield, superintendent of the Hall County school system.

So, the only school closing early that day is Riverbend.

The race is projected to pass by the school, which is at 1742 Cleveland Highway, between 2:15 and 2:30 p.m., Schofield added.

The normal release time for Hall’s elementary schools is 2:25 p.m.
