Today is the deadline to register if you want to vote in the March 1 presidential primary.

Georgia voters choose either a Republican or Democratic ballot. Sample ballots and registration information can be viewed at www.mvp.sos.ga.gov.

The presidential race will be the only item on the ballot.

A more extensive election will be held May 24 for state and local offices. The registration deadline for that election is April 26.

Offices up for election then include U.S. and state representatives and senators as well as Public Service commissioner and varying levels of judges and justices. In Hall County, elections are set for chairman and posts 2 and 4 of the Hall County Board of Commissioners, posts 3 and 4 of the Hall County Board of Education, sheriff, tax commissioner, coroner, surveyor, clerk of Superior Court and judges at varying levels. Candidates for those offices can qualify March 7-11.
