Registration begins for citizens academy

Registration has started for the ninth annual Citizens’ Police Academy held by the Gainesville Police Department.

The 10-week program, designed to familiarize citizens with all areas of law enforcement administration and operations, will include classes on criminal procedures.

Enrollment is open to all residents of Gainesville and Hall County who are 21 years or older; class size is limited to 25 students. Every applicant shall be subject to a criminal background check and must have a clean record, with the exception of minor traffic offenses.

The first class will be held from 7:30-9:30 p.m. May 22. All other classes will be held from 7:30-9:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, with graduation scheduled for July 22.
