The recent rains are to blame for a sewage spill Monday in Lula, according to a news release from the city.
Less than 2,400 gallons of untreated sewage spilled from the McLeod and Hood street pump station after the pump exceeded capacity Monday, according to a news release.
City officials say the recent rainfall caused a surge of sewage flowing into the pump station, resulting in the spill.
City officials notified the Georgia Environmental Protection Division about the spill and continue to monitor the pump station, according to the release.
