With an unprecedented 41 cases of rabies reported so far this year, the Humane Society of Hall County has decided to offer one more rabies vaccination clinic.
"Normally we don’t do one this late in the year, but with all these extra cases, we felt it was critical that pets get vaccinated," said humane society president Rick Aiken.
Most of the rabies cases in Hall have been in wild skunks and raccoons. When infected animals come into contact with an unvaccinated dog or cat, usually the pet ends up being euthanized.
The clinic is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at the animal shelter, at 845 W. Ridge Road.
Shots cost $10 each. Dogs and cats must be at least 3 months old and be on a leash or in a pet carrier.
