Hall County’s rabies epidemic shows no signs of abating. The number of cases reported this year has now reached 39.

According to Hall County Animal Control, on Oct. 16 a skunk came into contact with three dogs near Price Way in North Hall. The skunk’s remains weren’t shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab until Monday. On Tuesday, the results came back positive for rabies.

That was the second case of rabies in three days. On Oct. 14, a rabid skunk came into contact with a dog and a cat near Claude Parks Road in North Hall.

Hall residents are urged to have their pets vaccinated against rabies. And if they observe wildlife behaving strangely, a possible sign of rabies, they should call Animal Control at 770-531-6830.
