Rabies alert issued for Manor Ridge Drive area in West Hall

Hall County Animal Control has issued a rabies alert for the Manor Ridge Drive area of West Hall County.

A raccoon found in the area tested positive for rabies Friday. The raccoon came in contact with a dog and was shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab-Virology Section in Decatur for confirmation.

Alert signs will be posted in the area. Residents who see an animal acting abnormally are asked to call Hall County Animal Services at 770-531-6830 or Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812 during nonworking hours.

Animal owners can get rabies vaccines at the Hall County Animal Shelter 1688 Barber Road, Gainesville Tuesdays through Fridays for $10. Vaccines are also available from veterinarians.
