Rabid skunk in North Hall is county's 15th case this year

The Gainesville-Hall County Animal Control Department today confirmed the county's 15th rabies case of the year involving a skunk in North Hall.

The rabid skunk came in contact with three dogs Monday in the Green Drive area. The animal was shipped the next day to the Georgia Public Health Lab-Virology Section in Decatur, where it was confirmed to be rabid.

Residents in the area are asked to be on alert for animals acting abnormally. Reports can be made to the Gainesville-Hall Animal Control Department at 770-531-6830, or after hours to Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812.
