Rabid skunk confirmed in East Hall, county's 13th case this year

The Gainesville-Hall County Animal Control Department has confirmed the 13th case of rabies found in the county this year.

Animal Control captured a skunk on Sunday that had come in contact with two dogs in the Gillsville Highway area of East Hall. The animal was shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab-Virology Section in Decatur two days later and confirmed to be rabid.

Residents in the area where the skunk was found are advised to be on the alert for signs of animals acting abnormally. Reports of such cases can be made to the Gainesville-Hall Animal Control Department at 770-531-6830 or after-hours to Hall County Dispatch at 770-536-8812.
