Residents will get an opportunity to discuss the proposed widening of Ga. 11/U.S. 129/Cleveland Highway from Limestone Parkway to Jim Hood Road/Nopone Road at a public meeting next week.

The meeting, hosted by the Georgia Department of Transportation, is set for 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the North Hall Community Center. Similar meetings were held about the project in May 1998, November 2007 and February 2014.

The 5.4-mile project proposes to widen the road from to two to four lanes with a 20-foot-wide raised median. Two separate projects will widen the bridges along the corridor that are within the limits of the widening project.

Detour routes associated with the construction will also be part of the discussion.

DOT representatives will be on hand to discuss the project and answer questions, though no formal presentation is planned. The public is invited to provide thoughts, preferences and concerns. Project displays and detour maps will be available at the meeting.

A court reporter will record formal comments from the meeting. Residents can also give input online at dot.ga.gov/PS/Public/PublicOutreach.

Written comments in response to the project open house will also be accepted until May 23. They may be submitted to:
