A downtown Gainesville project geared to helping improve pedestrian safety and access at five busy intersections is scheduled to start Wednesday. The project, expected to wrap up this fall, will involve installing thermoplastic material mimicking brick pavers on crosswalks at two intersections on E.E. Butler Parkway and three on Jesse Jewell Parkway, Assistant City Manager Angela Sheppard said. The first phase of work will take place on E.E. Butler at Washington and Spring streets and is expected to end in late April, according to a city press release issued Monday.
