An infant and a pregnant woman were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for evaluation Friday afternoon after a collision on Skelton Road.

Gainesville police responded to Skelton Road around 12:15 p.m. to a report of a three-car wreck.

A Honda Accord was pulling out of the Target parking lot to enter the Lowe’s parking lot as a taxi headed southbound on Skelton Road toward Browns Bridge Road.

“The taxi cab that was driven by a female who was pregnant struck the Honda Accord and drove the Honda Accord into the Nissan Titan pickup truck,” said Gainesville police spokesman Cpl. Joe Britte.

An infant inside the Honda Accord and the taxi driver were transferred to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for evaluation.

“(The taxi driver) had the seatbelt around her stomach, so they just wanted to double check. She was complaining of pains,” Britte said.

The driver of the Nissan Titan was uninjured, Britte said.

The patrol unit is still investigating the incident to determine fault and if charges will be filed.
