Both lanes of Ga. 255 just north of Ga. 17 in Sautee will be closed Tuesday for emergency repair work.

Heavy rains over the weekend caused the shoulder of the road to collapse into the drainage pipe that runs under the road, said Teri Pope, Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman.

Workers will be in the area during daylight hours, and no traffic will be allowed through.

The road in Sautee is the only place in the GDOT’s North Georgia district that was damaged from the weekend rains, Pope said.
